Kidney stones are usually performed laparoscopically to break up kidney stones that pass from the kidneys to the ureter. This technique is used to break up large stones that cannot be excreted through urine, and the fragmentation process is the solution.

This process usually takes about 30 minutes, before which the doctor anesthetizes you in preparation for the operation, then inserts a small tool into the ureter called an endoscope to help him see the internal parts of the ureter and know and locate the stone, to break it up, and the process may take more than 30 minutes in some cases.

Sometimes doctors use another type to break up kidney stones, where a laser is used to break up stones into smaller parts until they are eliminated, this type of operation may take an hour and a half or more
