• Inflammation of the bowel, especially ulcerative colitis and Crohn’s disease, which are conditions that affect the rectum and anus.
• Proctitis can lead to pain in this area.
• Chronic constipation, which is a condition in which a person is unable to pass stools / which leads to pain.
• Rectal prolapse, which is a condition in which the rectum protrudes from its place through the anus, and thus the person feels pain as a result of this.
