When is swollen feet dangerous for pregnant women?

Swelling of the feet is a common thing during pregnancy, but when some symptoms accompany this swelling, it is necessary to consult a specialist doctor quickly.

1. Preeclampsia

Preeclampsia is high blood pressure as a result of pregnancy, and it is considered a serious pathological condition that affects the mother and fetus, and its symptoms include:

  • Swelling of the feet does not improve, even after rest and no exertion.
  • swelling of the face and hands;
  • Swelling of the feet is more severe than the usual case.
  • Constant headache.
  • Vision disturbances such as blurred vision, sensitivity to light.

2. Blood clot

One foot swollen more severely than the other may indicate a serious condition in one of the veins, known as deep vein thrombosis.

3. Heart health problem

When swollen feet accompanies chest pain, and difficulty breathing, this may indicate a heart health problem.

In all cases, swollen feet is a normal thing for all pregnant women, which often ends after childbirth.
