Can melanin be withdrawn from the body?

Pulling the melanin pigment from the body may be useful with more dark areas, due to the accumulation of melanin pigment in some areas, and this condition is called hyperpigmentation, and this condition can be treated by reducing the proportion of melanin, and the most important of these methods are:

  • Laser treatment, in which some of the outer layers of the skin are removed to remove hyperpigmented areas.
  • Use of some types of medication.
  • Skin whitening using substances containing hydroquinone.

In addition to the previous methods, you can follow some tips, which help slow down the secretion of melanin inside the body, and among these tips are the following:

  • Do not expose to the sun for long periods of time.
  • Use sunscreen.
  • Use aloe vera gel.
  • Use diluted lemon juice on the skin.

Drink to change melanin pigment

Some drinks can help reduce melanin secretion, such as green tea, because green tea is characterized by containing a substance that prevents the accumulation of melanin and works to inhibit the enzyme that makes up it, but there is no strong scientific evidence to support this.

Cream removes melanin pigment

Some types of creams or ointments can be used that are placed on the skin in order to lighten it. These creams help reduce the percentage of melanin pigment in the area to be treated, and the most important of these creams are:

  • Creams containing kojic acid.
  • Creams containing glycolic acid.
  • Creams containing azelaic acid.
  • Creams containing vitamin C.
  • Creams containing retinoids.

These creams are used because of their ability to inhibit certain enzymes that play a role in preparing melanin, but you should know that these creams can cause some side effects such as inflammation, redness, dryness, and itching.
